Explained

What it does

A Continuous Trap. Both players must Set Spell Cards before activating them, and can't activate them until their next turn after Setting them. Limited to 1 copy in the TCG.

Play it when

In decks that rely on Traps and monsters more than Spells, to slow down Spell-heavy opponents.

Common mistakes
  • Thinking it stops Spells already Set before it applied. It doesn't.
  • Thinking it stops face-up Spells' effects or GY effects. It doesn't.

How it works

Anti-Spell Fragrance is a Continuous Trap. While it’s face-up, both players must Set Spell Cards before activating them, and can’t activate them until their next turn after Setting them.

Status: Limited in the TCG (Sept 21, 2026 list), so you can run 1 copy.

Rulings in plain English

Activation: Any time except the Damage Step. The lock itself is not an activated effect.

Quick-Play Spells: Set while it applies, they still wait until your next turn.

Not affected: Spells Set before it applied, effects of face-up Spells already on the field, Spell effects in the GY, and discarding Spells as a cost.

Pendulum Monsters: Can’t be activated in the Pendulum Zone while it applies.

Chained to a Spell: That Spell was already activated, so it resolves normally.
