Common mistakes
- Thinking face-down Special Summons get around it. They don't.
How it works
Status: Forbidden in the TCG (Sept 21, 2026 list), so it can’t be used in Advanced Format.
Continuous: Neither player can Special Summon monsters, except FIRE monsters.
Rulings in plain English
Face-down summons: Neither player can Special Summon non-FIRE monsters in face-down Defense Position either, such as with “The Shallow Grave”.
Two Barrier Statues: If this and another one, like “Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds”, are both applying, neither player can Special Summon any monsters.
