Explained
A Level 4 WATER Aqua. While it's face-up in the Monster Zone, neither player can Special Summon monsters except WATER monsters.
It can't be used in Advanced Format; it's Forbidden in the TCG.
- Thinking face-down Special Summons get around it. They don't.
How it works
Status: Forbidden in the TCG (Sept 21, 2026 list), so it can’t be used in Advanced Format.
Continuous: Neither player can Special Summon monsters, except WATER monsters.
Rulings in plain English
Where it applies: In the Monster Zone only, not if it’s in the Spell & Trap Zone.
Face-down too: Non-WATER monsters can’t be Special Summoned in face-down Defense Position by effects such as The Shallow Grave either.
With other Barrier Statues: If this and Barrier Statue of the Inferno, for example, both apply, neither player can Special Summon any monster.
