Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned with the effect of a "Sacred Beast" card. You can reveal this card in your hand; add 1 "Sacred Beast" Spell from your Deck to your hand, then discard 1 card. You can only use this effect of "Calamity of the Sacred Beasts - Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder" once per turn. Once per turn, if a monster(s) is sent to your opponent's GY: Inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can activate this effect; you take no damage this turn.

Explained

What it does

A Sacred Beast that can only be Special Summoned by a "Sacred Beast" card's effect. Reveal it from your hand to search a Sacred Beast Spell then discard 1. On the field, deal 1000 damage once per turn when a monster goes to your opponent's GY. When destroyed, you take no damage that turn.

Play it when

In Sacred Beast decks, both as a search from the hand and as a big monster summoned by Sacred Beast cards.

Common mistakes
  • Trying to summon it with a generic revive card. Only Sacred Beast card effects work (or effects that ignore Summoning conditions after it's properly summoned once).

How it works

Summoning: Can’t be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned with the effect of a “Sacred Beast” card.

  • From the hand (once per turn): Reveal this card to add 1 “Sacred Beast” Spell from your Deck to your hand, then discard 1 card.
  • On the field (once per turn, mandatory): If a monster is sent to your opponent’s GY, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent.
  • If destroyed by battle or card effect: You take no damage this turn.

When to use it

Its search works from the hand without summoning it, and the discard can put a Sacred Beast in the GY for Sacred Beast cards that summon from there.

Rulings in plain English

Search: Add first, then discard; not simultaneous.

Burn: Mandatory, even in the Damage Step.

Summoning: Sacred Beast effects can summon it even if it went straight from hand or Deck to the GY or banishment.
