Explained

What it does

A Level 10 Synchro that can treat a LIGHT or DARK monster as a Tuner. When Special Summoned, it banishes a card on the field. With LIGHT material your Synchro Monsters are unaffected by your opponent's activated monster effects; with DARK material your monsters can't be destroyed by battle.

Play it when

In decks with LIGHT and DARK monsters, as an Extra Deck boss that removes a card on summon. Using both a LIGHT and a DARK material gives it both protections.

Common mistakes
  • Losing the bonus effects. If it's temporarily banished and returns, or flips face-down and back, it no longer has them.
  • Thinking the LIGHT bonus protects all your monsters. It only covers Synchro Monsters.

How it works

Materials: 1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner LIGHT or DARK monsters. For its Synchro Summon, you can treat 1 LIGHT or DARK monster you control as a Tuner.

On summon: If it’s Special Summoned, target 1 card on the field and banish it.

Bonus effects, based on the original Attributes of its Synchro Materials:

  • LIGHT: Synchro Monsters you control are unaffected by monster effects your opponent activates.
  • DARK: Monsters you control can’t be destroyed by battle.

When to use it

Being able to treat a LIGHT or DARK monster as a Tuner means many decks can make it without a real Tuner. The banish works on any Special Summon, not just its Synchro Summon.

Rulings in plain English

Can the banish effect be used in the Damage Step? Yes.

Are the bonus effects “effects”? Gaining them isn’t an effect, but the LIGHT and DARK abilities themselves are Continuous Effects that apply while it’s in the Monster Zone.

What exactly does the LIGHT bonus stop? Effects of your opponent’s activated monster effects that apply when the chain link resolves. It protects your face-up Synchro Monsters.

What does the DARK bonus cover? All monsters in your Monster Zone.

Does it keep its bonuses if it leaves and comes back? No.
