Common mistakes

  • Counting it as a "Six Samurai" card. It isn't one.

How it works

Status: Limited in the TCG (Sept 21, 2026 list), so you can run 1 copy.

Gateway of the Six is a Continuous Spell. Each time a “Six Samurai” monster is Normal or Special Summoned, place 2 Bushido Counters on it. Remove Bushido Counters from your field to activate:

  • 2 Counters: Target 1 “Six Samurai” or “Shien” Effect Monster; it gains 500 ATK until the end of this turn.
  • 4 Counters: Add 1 “Six Samurai” monster from your Deck or GY to your hand.
  • 6 Counters: Target 1 “Shien” Effect Monster in your GY; Special Summon it.

Rulings in plain English

Not a “Six Samurai” card.

Counters: Placing them doesn’t start a Chain, and still happens in the Damage Step. If this card is negated, all its counters are removed.

Spending them: Removing counters is the cost, and you can use Bushido Counters on your other cards too. These effects start a Chain and can only be used in your Main Phase. The 4-counter search doesn’t target.
