When your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card or monster effect that would destroy a monster on the field, pay 1500 LP to negate the activation and destroy it.
To protect your monsters from destruction effects.
- Using it on a Spell/Trap effect that isn't a card activation. It can't.
- Activating it when no monster would actually be destroyed.
How it works
My Body as a Shield is a Quick-Play Spell. When your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card or monster effect that would destroy a monster(s) on the field: pay 1500 LP; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.
Rulings in plain English
Cost: The 1500 LP is paid to activate. It doesn’t target.
What it answers: Monster effects and Spell/Trap Card activations, not effects of Spells/Traps already on the field. Something must actually be destroyed; if there are no monsters to destroy, you can’t activate it.
Timing: Usable in the Damage Step.
