Explained
An Equip Spell. When it's destroyed by a card effect while equipped to a monster, look at your opponent's hand and discard 1 card from it.
It can't be used in Advanced Format; it's Forbidden in the TCG.
- Expecting the discard when it's destroyed because the equipped monster left or was flipped face-down. It doesn't activate then.
How it works
Status: Forbidden in the TCG (Sept 21, 2026 list), so it can’t be used in Advanced Format.
Smoke Grenade of the Thief is an Equip Spell. When it’s destroyed by a card effect while equipped to a monster, look at your opponent’s hand and discard 1 card from it.
Rulings in plain English
Mandatory: Activates from the GY or banishment when another card’s effect destroys it while equipped, even in the Damage Step. Doesn’t target. With an empty hand it still activates, but nothing happens.
Doesn’t count: If it’s destroyed as a result of the equipped monster being destroyed by battle or turned face-down, it doesn’t activate.
