Explained
While you control no monsters, you can Tribute Summon it using monsters in your hand and/or on your opponent's field. When Normal Summoned, it negates and destroys a card when your opponent activates its effect in the hand, GY or banishment, and in the Battle Phase it can switch all their monsters to Defense Position.
When you control no monsters and your opponent has monsters you want gone, as a Tribute Summon that also removes them.
- Using this card itself from your hand as one of the Tributes.
- Expecting the negate effect if it was Special Summoned. It needs to be Normal Summoned or Set.
How it works
- Special Tribute Summon: While you control no monsters, you can Tribute Summon it face-up by Tributing monsters in your hand and/or on your opponent’s field.
- Quick Effect: When your opponent activates a card effect in the hand, GY or banishment, and you control this Normal Summoned/Set card, negate that effect and destroy that card.
- Quick Effect (Battle Phase): Reveal your entire hand to change all monsters your opponent controls to Defense Position.
Each of the last two effects is once per turn.
When to use it
Tributing your opponent’s monsters removes them without targeting or destroying, so it gets past many protections. On the field, it stops one hand, GY or banished effect per turn.
Rulings in plain English
Special Tribute Summon: It’s a rule, not an effect, so you can Tribute monsters that are unaffected by monster effects. For 2 Tributes you can use 2 from your hand, 2 from your opponent’s field, or 1 of each. You can still Tribute Summon it the normal way.
Negate effect: Chained directly to your opponent’s hand, GY or banished card effect. Not in the Damage Step.
Position effect: Needs an Attack Position non-Link monster on your opponent’s field. Monsters become face-up Defense; face-down monsters stay face-down. Not in the Damage Step.
