What it does

A Continuous Trap. Each player can only control 1 monster of each Type. If a player controls 2 or more of the same Type, they send some to the GY until they have only 1.

Play it when

Against decks that fill the board with one Type, as a 1-copy Trap since it's Limited in the TCG.

Common mistakes
  • Thinking Sets are blocked too. You can still Set or summon face-down.

How it works

Rulings in plain English

Activation: Not in the Damage Step.

Not an activated effect: It applies while the card is face-up. Sending monsters doesn’t start a Chain, and they aren’t treated as sent by a card effect, so Trap protection doesn’t save them.

Summon lock: While a player has a face-up monster, they can’t Normal Summon, Flip Summon or Special Summon face-up a monster of the same Type. The same goes for putting a monster onto your opponent’s field. Normal Sets and face-down Special Summons are still allowed.

Later changes: If a flip or control change puts 2 of a Type on one field, the monster that arrived face-up later is sent. If several are flipped or summoned at once, some or all of those new monsters are sent.
