Two of the most recognizable names on the old Forbidden list came back on the September 2026 TCG list. Mind Master and Elder Entity Norden both went from Forbidden straight to Unlimited. Unlike the rest of the list, which took effect on September 21, their change only took effect on September 28, 2026, so they were still Forbidden for the first week.
Konami didn’t say why either card came back. What we can do is look at what the cards actually do and where they have turned up since.
Elder Entity Norden
Elder Entity Norden is a Level 4 WATER Fusion Monster with 2000 ATK and 2200 DEF. Its materials are any 2 Synchro or Xyz Monsters. When it is Special Summoned, you can revive a Level 4 or lower monster from your GY. That monster’s effects are negated, and it is banished when Norden leaves the field.
So Norden is two Level 4 or lower bodies for the price of one summon. Even with its effects negated, the revived monster still counts as material for a Link, Xyz or Synchro play, which is how the card is usually used.
The catch is the materials. Two Synchro or Xyz Monsters is a lot to ask for a normal Fusion Summon, so Norden is mostly interesting in decks that already reach it a different way.
Where it is already showing up
The best evidence is the Light and Darkness Ritual pile, one of the two strongest decks right now. The list that finished 2nd at YCS Guayaquil (October 3-4) had Elder Entity Norden in its Extra Deck, barely a week after the card became legal.
That deck plays three copies of Super Polymerization, which Fusion Summons using monsters from either field. That means a Norden can be made from Synchro or Xyz Monsters your opponent controls, not just your own. Against decks that end on Synchro boards, that turns two of their monsters into one Norden and a revived monster from your GY on your side.
Other ways to reach it
Metamorphosis also came off the list on the same day, going from Limited to Unlimited. It Tributes one monster to Special Summon a Fusion Monster with the same Level. Norden is Level 4, so on paper any Level 4 monster becomes a Norden, which then revives a Level 4 or lower monster. We haven’t seen this in top lists yet, but it is a direct card-text pairing worth knowing about.
Who can’t use it
Not every Synchro deck gets to play Norden. Elfnote, the deck that won YCS Guayaquil, runs Elfnote Power Patron, and once that card’s effect is used you can only Special Summon Synchro Monsters from the Extra Deck for the turn. Norden is a Fusion, so it fights against the deck’s main engine.
Mind Master
Mind Master is a Level 1 LIGHT Psychic Tuner with 100 ATK. Its one effect: pay 800 LP and Tribute a Psychic monster other than Mind Master to Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Psychic from your Deck in face-up Attack Position. There is no once-per-turn limit printed on it.
That makes it a Tuner that also replaces a Psychic on the field with another one from the Deck, which is useful for Synchro and Link plays. The limit is that it only works with Psychic monsters, and you need a second Psychic on the field before it does anything.
Who can use it right now
Honestly, not much yet. We found no top-cut list running Mind Master in the three weeks since it returned.
The only Psychic monsters showing up regularly in top decks are PSY-Framegear Gamma and PSY-Frame Driver, which appear as a hand-trap package in Light and Darkness Ritual lists. On paper, Gamma is a Level 2 Psychic that can only be Special Summoned by a card effect, so Mind Master can pull it from the Deck. But that package is played for Gamma’s hand-trap effect, not as a summoning engine, so we wouldn’t expect it to make room for Mind Master.
For now, Mind Master is a card for Psychic decks and casual builds rather than a meta pick. If a strong Psychic engine shows up in a future set, it is the first card to look at.
Our take
Norden is the unban that matters today. It slots straight into the Extra Deck of a tier 1 deck that already plays Super Polymerization, and the Metamorphosis change gives more decks a way to reach it.
Mind Master is the nostalgia pick. It is legal at three copies again, but until there is a Psychic deck worth building around, expect to see it more at locals than at the top tables. If you need a refresher on how the list works, see the ban list, explained.
