What it does

A Link-2 that, during your opponent's Main Phase, lets you Link Summon a Link Monster using materials you control including itself. The Link Monster it becomes can't be destroyed by your opponent's card effects.

Play it when

As a generic Link-2 in decks that can make it from 2 non-Link monsters, to make a Link Monster on your opponent's turn.

Common mistakes
  • Using Link Monsters as its materials. It needs 2 non-Link monsters.
  • Expecting the protection to last if that Link Monster leaves the field or turns face-down.

How it works

  • Protection: A Link Monster that used this card as material can’t be destroyed by your opponent’s card effects.

When to use it

Masquerena turns into whatever Link Monster you need on your opponent’s turn, which can surprise an opponent who planned around your current board. It’s a long-standing staple for decks with access to Link Monsters.
