Explained
A Quick-Play Spell with two options: add a "Mitsurugi" monster from your Deck, or take 800 damage and Special Summon a Mitsurugi monster from your hand or GY. If you Tribute a Reptile monster when you activate it, you can do both.
In Mitsurugi decks to search and summon, ideally Tributing a Reptile for both effects.
- Expecting both effects without Tributing a Reptile on activation.
- Attacking directly with the summoned monster. It can't.
How it works
When you activate it, you can also Tribute 1 Reptile monster in your hand or field. Then apply one of these, or both in order if you Tributed:
- Add 1 “Mitsurugi” monster from your Deck to your hand.
- Take 800 damage, then you can Special Summon 1 “Mitsurugi” monster from your hand or GY. It can’t attack directly.
You can only activate 1 “Mitsurugi Prayers” per turn.
When to use it
With a Reptile to Tribute, it’s a search plus a summon in one card, on either player’s turn.
Rulings in plain English
Is Tributing a cost? Yes, paid on activation; face-down monsters can be Tributed.
Choosing: With a Tribute, decide at resolution whether to apply one or both; both go top to bottom, not simultaneously. Without a Tribute, choose one.
Second option: Take the damage first; then you can summon, including the monster you Tributed if it can be summoned.
Can I use it in the Damage Step? No.
