Explained

What it does

If you control no cards, discard it to draw 1 card every time your opponent Special Summons from the Deck or Extra Deck for the rest of the turn.

Play it when

On your opponent's turn while your field is empty, usually when they go first, against a deck that Special Summons from the Deck and Extra Deck many times in a turn.

Common mistakes
  • Activating it while you control a card. You must control no cards at all.
  • Drawing once per monster. It draws once per Special Summon, so several monsters summoned at the same time give 1 card.
  • Forgetting the End Phase hand limit, which can shuffle extra cards back into your Deck.

How it works

Fuwalos is a Quick Effect you activate from your hand while you control no cards. Discard it, and for the rest of the turn:

  • Each time your opponent Special Summons from the Deck and/or Extra Deck, you immediately draw 1 card.
  • Once, during that End Phase, if you have more cards in hand than the number of cards your opponent controls +6, you shuffle cards from your hand into the Deck at random until you’re down to that number.

The turn you use it, you can only activate one other “Mulcharmy” monster effect.

When to use it

Because you need an empty field, Fuwalos fits best when your opponent is going first and you haven’t played anything yet. Against decks that Special Summon from the Deck and Extra Deck over and over, your opponent has to choose between stopping their combo or handing you a big hand for your turn.

The End Phase clause keeps the draws in check. If your opponent ends with a big board, you keep more cards. If they stop early with few cards, you may have to shuffle some back.

Rulings in plain English

Can I activate it if I can’t draw? Yes. If you actually have to draw with no cards left in your Deck, you lose.

Can I use a second copy the same turn? Yes, the official FAQ allows it. With two applied, each qualifying summon draws you 1 card twice.

Does it count monsters or summons? Summons. Several monsters Special Summoned at the same time count once.

Does the draw start a chain? No. Drawing doesn’t make chain links, and it still applies to summons made during the Damage Step.

Can I use it in the Damage Step? No.

Mulcharmy Purulia does the same against summons from the hand.
