Explained
If you control no cards, discard it to draw 1 card each time your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster from the hand this turn.
On your opponent's turn while your field is empty, against decks that summon lots of monsters from the hand.
- Activating it while you control a card. Your field must be empty.
- Expecting a card per monster. It's one draw per summon, so a Pendulum Summon of several monsters draws once.
- Forgetting the End Phase shuffle if your hand ends up bigger than your opponent's field +6.
How it works
Purulia works like Mulcharmy Fuwalos but watches summons from the hand. If you control no cards, discard it, and for the rest of the turn:
- Each time your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster from the hand, you immediately draw 1 card.
- Once, during that End Phase, if your hand is bigger than the number of cards your opponent controls +6, you randomly shuffle cards from your hand into the Deck until it’s equal to that number.
The turn you use it, you can only activate one other “Mulcharmy” monster effect.
When to use it
Pick Purulia over Fuwalos against decks that put most of their monsters onto the field from the hand rather than from the Deck or Extra Deck. Like Fuwalos, it needs an empty field, so it’s at its best on your opponent’s first turn.
Rulings in plain English
Can I activate it if I can’t draw? Yes. If you actually have to draw from an empty Deck, you lose.
Can I use a second copy the same turn? Yes. With both applied, each qualifying summon draws you 1 card twice.
Does it count monsters or summons? Summons. Monsters summoned at the same time, for example by a Pendulum Summon, give one draw.
Does it work during the Damage Step? It can’t be activated then, but if it’s already applied, summons during the Damage Step still draw. Drawing and shuffling back don’t start chains.
