Explained

What it does

A Quick-Play Spell with two options: send a monster that mentions "Fallen of Albaz" from your Extra Deck to the GY to destroy a face-up card, or, with an "Ecclesia" monster in your field or GY, Special Summon a monster from either GY.

Play it when

In Branded and Dogmatika decks, as removal on your opponent's turn or as a way to bring back a monster from either Graveyard when you have an Ecclesia monster available.

Common mistakes
  • Targeting this card itself with the destroy option. Its FAQ says you can't.
  • Choosing the revive option without an Ecclesia monster face-up on your field or in your GY.
  • Activating more than one per turn. It's a hard once per turn by name.

How it works

The Fallen & The Virtuous is a Quick-Play Spell that always counts as both a “Branded” and a “Dogmatika” card. When you activate it, choose one effect:

  • Destroy: Send 1 monster that mentions “Fallen of Albaz” from your Extra Deck to the GY, then target 1 face-up card on the field and destroy it.
  • Revive: If you have an “Ecclesia” monster on your field or in your GY, target 1 monster in either GY and Special Summon it to your field.

You can only activate 1 “The Fallen & The Virtuous” per turn.

When to use it

It’s a flexible card for decks built around Fallen of Albaz and Ecclesia. The destroy option is removal you can use on your opponent’s turn, and sending the Extra Deck monster can set up that monster’s own Graveyard effect. The revive option can take a monster from your opponent’s GY too. It came from THE CHRONICLES DECK: The Fallen & The Virtuous (October 2025).

Rulings in plain English

How do I pick the effect? You choose one of the two options when you activate it.

Can I use it in the Damage Step? No, whichever option you choose.

Does it still count as Branded and Dogmatika if negated? Yes. That line on the card is a rule, not an effect.

What counts as “mentions Fallen of Albaz”? A monster whose text names “Fallen of Albaz” as a specific card.

Can the destroy option target this card? No.

What if the targeted monster is flipped face-down before it resolves? It’s still destroyed.

When can I choose the revive option? When an Ecclesia monster is face-up in your Monster Zone, or is in your GY.
