Link Effect Monster

Card text

2+ Effect Monsters When your opponent activates a monster effect on the field or GY (Quick Effect): You can banish this card that was Special Summoned this turn until the End Phase; negate that effect, and if you do, banish it. During your opponent's Main Phase, you can (Quick Effect): Immediately after this effect resolves, Link Summon 1 Link Monster, and if this card you control would be used as material for that Link Summon, you can also use 1 Link-2 or lower monster your opponent controls. Neither player can activate the effects of Link Monsters in response to this effect's activation. You can only use each effect of "W:P Fancy Ball" once per turn.

Explained

What it does

A Link-3. If it was Special Summoned this turn, banish it until the End Phase to negate and banish an opponent's monster effect activated on the field or in the GY. During your opponent's Main Phase, Link Summon using it, and you can include one of your opponent's Link-2 or lower monsters as material.

Play it when

As a Link-3 in decks that can make 2+ Effect Monsters, either to stop a key effect the turn you summon it, or to steal a small Link Monster on your opponent's turn as material.

Common mistakes
  • Using the negate on a turn after it was summoned. It must have been Special Summoned that turn.
  • Responding to its Link effect with Link Monster effects. Neither player can.

How it works

Materials: 2 or more Effect Monsters.

  • Quick Effect: When your opponent activates a monster effect on the field or in the GY, banish this card (if it was Special Summoned this turn) until the End Phase; negate that effect, and if you do, banish that card.
  • Quick Effect (opponent’s Main Phase): Immediately after this resolves, Link Summon 1 Link Monster. If this card is used as material, you can also use 1 Link-2 or lower monster your opponent controls. Neither player can activate Link Monster effects in response.

Each effect is once per turn.

When to use it

Like I:P Masquerena, it Link Summons on your opponent’s turn, but it can also take one of their small Link Monsters as material, removing it from their field.

Rulings in plain English

Negate: Chained directly to your opponent’s monster effect on the field or in the GY. Not in the Damage Step.

Link Summon: Happens right after its chain link. Using your opponent’s monster isn’t an effect applied to that monster, so even one unaffected by monster effects can be used.
