Explained
An Ashtra monster you can Special Summon from your hand by returning a face-down card. During the Main Phase, send a Trap to change all your opponent's face-up monsters to face-down Defense Position. In your End Phase, it Sets an "Ashtra" Trap from your Deck.
In Ashtra decks to turn off your opponent's whole board on either player's Main Phase.
- Using the flip effect outside the Main Phase.
- Forgetting it needs a Trap from your hand or face-down field as the cost.
How it works
- Summon from hand: Reveal 1 face-down card you control and return it to the hand or Extra Deck to Special Summon this card from your hand (once per turn this way). This is a summoning procedure: it doesn’t start a chain, you return the card first and then summon, and if the summon is negated you can try again that turn.
- Quick Effect (Main Phase): Send 1 Trap from your hand or face-down field to the GY to change all face-up monsters your opponent controls to face-down Defense Position.
- Your End Phase: Set 1 “Ashtra” Trap from your Deck.
Each of the last two effects is once per turn.
When to use it
Flipping monsters face-down turns off their effects while face-down and resets them. Because it’s a Quick Effect, you can use it on your opponent’s Main Phase. The End Phase effect replaces the Trap you used.
