Explained
Special Summon it from your hand by revealing a face-down card you control and returning it to the hand or Extra Deck. During your Main Phase, it searches a non-Wyrm "Ashtra" monster. Used as material for an Ashtra Synchro, it Sets a Normal Trap from your GY.
In Ashtra decks as a way to put a monster on the field and search, then later as Synchro Material to reuse a Normal Trap.
- Thinking the self-summon starts a chain. It doesn't, so it can't be responded to as an activation.
- Expecting the GY effect without a successful Ashtra Synchro Summon.
How it works
- Summon from hand: Reveal 1 face-down card you control and return it to the hand or Extra Deck to Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn this way.
- Search (Main Phase): Add 1 non-Wyrm “Ashtra” monster from your Deck to your hand.
- As Synchro Material: If it’s sent to the GY as Synchro Material for an “Ashtra” Synchro Monster, target 1 Normal Trap in your GY and Set it.
You can use each of the last two effects once per turn.
When to use it
Mikumari gets on the field without your Normal Summon and immediately finds another Ashtra monster, which makes it a natural starter. Its last effect turns a used Normal Trap into a fresh Set card after you make an Ashtra Synchro.
Rulings in plain English
What kind of effect is the self-summon? It’s a summoning procedure, not an Ignition, Trigger, Quick or Continuous Effect, and it doesn’t start a chain.
Is returning the card and the summon simultaneous? No. You return the face-down card first, then summon.
If the summon is negated, can I try again? Yes, that turn.
When can the GY effect be used? After it’s sent as material for an Ashtra Synchro Monster and that Synchro Summon succeeds.
