Explained
An Ashtra Field Spell. Target face-down cards you control to add that many differently named "Ashtra" cards from your Deck (not Field Spells), then send those face-down cards to the GY. If you control an Ashtra monster and a face-down card, when either player Sets a card, return a card on the field to the hand.
In Ashtra decks to convert Set cards into searches, and as disruption whenever cards get Set.
- Using the search outside your Main Phase.
- Expecting the bounce without an Ashtra monster and a face-down card on your field.
How it works
- Search (your Main Phase): Target any number of face-down cards you control. Add that many “Ashtra” cards from your Deck to your hand, except Field Spells, each with a different name, then send those face-down cards to the GY.
- Bounce: If you control an “Ashtra” monster and a face-down card, and either player Sets a card, target 1 card on the field and return it to the hand.
Each effect is once per turn.
When to use it
Ashtra monsters summon themselves by returning face-down cards and their Traps reward Setting, so this Field Spell ties the engine together.
Rulings in plain English
Search: If you add at least one card, the targeted face-down cards are then sent to the GY.
Bounce: Works even when cards are Set on your opponent’s turn. Not in the Damage Step.
