Explained

What it does

While you control a monster in your center Main Monster Zone, your opponent can only attack that monster. Send a monster from hand or field to revive an "Elfnote" of a different Attribute, then with a Synchro out, negate a face-up card.

Play it when

In Elfnote decks to control attacks and loop monsters out of the GY.

Common mistakes
  • Using the revive in the Damage Step.

How it works

Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness is a Continuous Trap.

  • Continuous: While you control a monster in your center Main Monster Zone, your opponent’s monsters can only attack that monster.
  • Activated (once per turn): Send 1 monster from your hand or field to the GY, then target 1 “Elfnote” monster in your GY with a different original Attribute; Special Summon it. Then, if you control a Synchro Monster, you can negate the effects of 1 face-up card your opponent controls until the end of the turn. Not in the Damage Step.

Rulings in plain English

Activation: You can activate the card alone, or activate it and use the revive in the same chain link if you meet its condition. If you just activate it, you can’t use the revive later in that same chain.

Full board: You can still use the revive with 5 monsters in your Main Monster Zones if you send one of them as the cost.

Order: Summon first; the negation only follows if it worked. Not simultaneous.
