Explained
Apply to 1 face-up monster until the end of the turn: its effects are negated, it can't attack, can't be destroyed, is unaffected by other activated effects, can't be Tributed, and can't be used as Fusion, Synchro, Xyz or Link Material. No monster effects can respond to its activation.
To stop an opponent's monster from doing anything this turn, or to protect your own monster from removal (at the cost of negating it).
- Forgetting it also makes the monster immune to your own activated effects.
- Using it in the Damage Step.
How it works
Forbidden Crown is a Quick-Play Spell. Until the end of the turn, 1 face-up monster on the field:
- has its effects negated,
- can’t attack,
- can’t be destroyed by battle or card effects,
- is unaffected by activated card effects except its own,
- can’t be Tributed,
- can’t be used as Fusion, Synchro, Xyz or Link Material.
Neither player can activate monster effects in response. You can only activate 1 per turn.
When to use it
It shuts a monster out of the turn completely. It released in the TCG in February 2026.
Rulings in plain English
Can I choose a monster that’s already negated, or a Normal Monster? Yes; you choose at resolution.
What if it’s applied to an attacking monster? The attack ends.
What if the monster leaves the field as a cost? Its effect is still negated.
Is the no-response rule an effect? No, so it applies even if Crown is negated.
Damage Step? No.
