Explained
A Level 8 Ritual Monster summoned with "Light and Darkness Ritual". It's unaffected by your opponent's activated effects unless they target it, your Spells/Traps can't be destroyed or banished by your opponent's effects, it recovers a Spell on summon, and banishes a card face-down.
In Light and Darkness Ritual decks as a hard-to-remove boss that protects your backrow and removes a card each turn.
- Assuming it's fully protected. Effects that target it still work.
- Using its banish more than once per turn.
How it works
You can Ritual Summon it with “Light and Darkness Ritual”.
- Continuous: It’s unaffected by your opponent’s activated effects unless they target it. Spells and Traps you control can’t be destroyed or banished by your opponent’s card effects.
- When Special Summoned: Add 1 Spell from your GY to your hand.
- Ignition: Target 1 card your opponent controls and banish it face-down.
Each of the last two effects is once per turn.
When to use it
It protects itself from broad removal and your Spells and Traps from destruction and banishing, then removes one of your opponent’s cards face-down each turn, which means it can’t easily be reused.
Rulings in plain English
Can the summon effect be used in the Damage Step? Yes.
What exactly is it protected from? Effects your opponent activates that don’t target it don’t apply to it.
