Explained
A Continuous Trap. On either turn, add a monster that mentions "Light and Darkness Ritual" from your Deck then discard 1. When your opponent activates something, return a Level 7+ monster you control to the hand to Special Summon a differently named monster that mentions Light and Darkness Ritual from your hand, ignoring its Summoning conditions.
In Light and Darkness Ritual decks to search and to summon Ritual bosses without a Ritual Spell.
- Using both effects in the same chain. You can't.
- Returning a Fusion or Synchro Monster to the Extra Deck as the cost. It must go to the hand.
How it works
- Search (either turn, once per turn): Add 1 monster that mentions “Light and Darkness Ritual” from your Deck to your hand, then discard 1 card.
- Swap: When your opponent activates a card or effect, return 1 Level 7 or higher monster you control to the hand to Special Summon 1 monster that mentions “Light and Darkness Ritual” from your hand, with a different name, ignoring its Summoning conditions.
You can’t activate both effects in the same chain.
When to use it
The swap puts a Ritual boss like Magician of Dark Chaos - Black Chaos onto the field on your opponent’s turn without a Ritual Summon.
Rulings in plain English
Activating the card: You can activate it alone, or together with one of its effects. Not in the Damage Step.
Search: Add first, then discard; not simultaneous.
Swap: Returning the monster to the hand is the cost (not to the Extra Deck). You can return an opponent’s monster you control to their hand. If the card was already face-up, the swap can be used more than once in a chain.
