Explained
A Pendulum Monster always treated as "Artmage". In the Pendulum Zone, it negates an opponent's monster effect activated in response to a Power Patron or Artmage monster effect. As a monster, it can destroy itself to summon "Nerva the Power Patron of Creation". When added face-up to the Extra Deck, it summons a Power Patron or Artmage monster.
In Artmage and Power Patron decks to protect key effects and to summon Nerva.
- Using the Pendulum negate on effects that aren't responding to a Power Patron or Artmage monster effect.
How it works
This card is always treated as an “Artmage” card, including in the Pendulum Zone.
Pendulum effect (once per turn): Negate a monster effect your opponent activated in response to the activation of a “Power Patron” or “Artmage” monster effect, then destroy this card.
Monster effects (each once per turn):
- Banish the top 3 cards of your Deck face-down; destroy this card, and if you do, Special Summon 1 “Nerva the Power Patron of Creation” from your Extra Deck (treated as a Fusion Summon).
- If this card is added to your Extra Deck face-up, Special Summon 1 “Power Patron” or “Artmage” monster from your Deck or face-up Extra Deck, except “Nervedo”.
When to use it
Like its Elfnote counterpart Junoldo the Shadespirit Power Patron, destroying it sends it face-up to the Extra Deck, which triggers its summon effect.
Rulings in plain English
Nerva summon: Destroying and summoning count as simultaneous.
Extra Deck effect: A Trigger Effect usable in the Damage Step.
