Explained

What it does

Discard it to negate the activation of a card or effect that would add a card from the GY to the hand, Deck or Extra Deck, Special Summon from the GY, or banish from the GY.

Play it when

Against decks that revive monsters, recycle cards, or banish from the Graveyard as part of their combo.

Common mistakes
  • Thinking it works like Ash Blossom. Ghost Belle negates the activation, and covers Graveyard effects instead of Deck effects.
  • Assuming it can't be used in the Damage Step. Unlike many hand traps, its FAQ says it can.
  • Using a second copy the same turn. It's once per turn by name.

How it works

Ghost Belle is a Quick Effect from your hand. When a card or effect is activated that includes any of these, discard Ghost Belle to negate that activation:

  • Adding a card from the GY to the hand, Deck and/or Extra Deck
  • Special Summoning a Monster Card from the GY
  • Banishing a card from the GY

You can only use this effect of “Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion” once per turn.

When to use it

Ghost Belle covers the Graveyard the way Ash Blossom covers the Deck. It’s strongest against decks that keep bringing back monsters or use cards from the GY for value.

Rulings in plain English

What does it chain to? Directly to a card or effect that includes one of the listed actions.

What’s negated? The activation of that whole chain link, even if the effect also does other things.

Can I use it in the Damage Step? Yes, according to its official FAQ.

Is discarding a cost? Yes.

Called by the Grave is another way to stop a Graveyard monster. See our hand traps guide.
