Angelechy deck: the TCG-only Synchro deck on the rise (October 2026)

Angelechy won Louisville the weekend Beyond the Brave came out. How its Spell and Trap-driven Synchro plan works, a Top 4 list and recent TCG results.

Tier 2IntermediateAll Angelechy cards

Angelechy is a TCG-only Synchro deck that plays almost entirely off Spells and Traps. Its cards summon Synchro Monsters straight from the Extra Deck and park a second one in the Spell & Trap Zone, where it works as a Continuous Spell. The archetype got new cards in Beyond the Brave and immediately won a regional the weekend the set came out.

How the deck works

The main deck has no Angelechy monsters at all. Every Angelechy monster is a Synchro Monster, and the Spells and Traps put them on the field.

  • Angelechy Problem is a Field Spell. Once per turn you discard a Spell or Trap to Special Summon a Level 2 Angelechy from the Extra Deck and place another Angelechy monster in your Spell & Trap Zone as a face-up Continuous Spell.
  • Angelechy Opening to e4 is a Trap that places an Angelechy Field Spell from your hand, Deck or GY, Special Summons a Level 2 or 7 Angelechy to the Extra Monster Zone, and places another Angelechy as a Continuous Spell. If your opponent goes first, you can activate it from your hand during the Standby Phase of their first turn.
  • Angelechy Opposition Special Summons one Angelechy monster to your opponent’s side of the field and places another in your Spell & Trap Zone.
  • Angelechy Strategy Score searches any other Angelechy Spell or Trap, and later banishes itself from the GY to bring an Angelechy back from the Spell & Trap Zone to the field.

As monsters, most Angelechy Synchros banish a card based on its column. Angelechy Shatranga banishes any monster the opponent controls. Angelechy Enlisted banishes a monster in an adjacent column and then moves itself to the opponent’s field, and when its control changes it returns to the Extra Deck so you can summon another Angelechy.

As Continuous Spells, they turn into lock pieces:

Each one also has an effect when it is placed there, such as Destrier adding an Angelechy Spell or Shatranga adding an Angelechy Trap.

Angelechy Endgame Problem, the newer Field Spell, gets stronger with every Angelechy card in your Spell & Trap Zone, starting with a draw on the opponent’s Standby Phase; with 4 or more it banishes monsters they Special Summon. Angelechy Verdict negates a card, or banishes every card the opponent controls once there are 5 or more Angelechy Monster Cards on the field.

The rest of the main deck is 15 hand traps plus Dominus Purge. Terraforming finds a Field Spell, and Foolish Burial Goods can send one to the GY for Opening to e4 to use.

Before Beyond the Brave, Angelechy mostly showed up as a partner engine, including in the Elfnote list that won the online Side Deck Remote Duel regional.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

  • Opening to e4 gives it a play on the opponent’s first turn when going second.
  • The Continuous Spell effects (Shatranga, Castellan, Destrier) limit what the opponent can do once a few are on the field.
  • With no monsters in the main deck, it has room for 15 hand traps.

Weaknesses

  • Most of the engine sits in the Spell & Trap Zone. Bastion stops destruction, but effects that banish or return Spells and Traps still get through.
  • Effects that negate Field Spells or stop Spell activations hit the core of the deck.
  • The results come from a few small regionals in one weekend, so its real standing is not clear yet.

What to watch

  • YCS Houston (October 16-18) is the first large event where Angelechy can show whether the Louisville result holds up.
  • Angelechy has no release outside the TCG, so new lists and tech choices will come from TCG players first.
  • Magnificent Maestros brings new Toon support in mid-November.
