Blitzclique is a Thunder deck that turns every destroyed card into more searches and summons. It won three regionals in the first week of the September 2026 list and put a copy into the YCS Guayaquil Top 4, which keeps it in the tier-2 group behind Elfnote and the Light and Darkness Ritual pile.
How the deck works
Every Blitzclique monster has a hand effect: reveal it, destroy something, then Special Summon a Thunder monster from your hand. Surge Blitzclique destroys a monster, Grain Blitzclique destroys a Spell or Trap, Emi Blitzclique destroys any card when it is added to your hand by an effect, and Crackle Blitzclique destroys a monster on your opponent’s turn when they activate its effect on the field. All of these lock you out of Special Summoning Effect Monsters from anywhere but the hand for the rest of the turn, so the deck builds its board from the hand and from non-Effect Extra Deck plays.
The second half of each monster is a trigger: if another card is destroyed by a card effect while it is on the field, it fetches the next piece. Surge searches another Blitzclique monster, Grain searches a Blitzclique Spell or Hideout in the Sky, Coulomb, Emi searches a Blitzclique Trap, and Crackle sends a Blitzclique Spell or Trap to the GY. Once one or two of these are on the field, each destruction effect chains into more cards.
Coulomb is the glue. Once per turn it gives your opponent a Mech Beast Token and searches a Blitzclique monster, which also gives Surge something to destroy. Coulomb, Blitzclique - Breakaway and Blitzclique - Steppleader all return to the hand from the GY whenever a Blitzclique effect destroys a card, so the deck rebuys its own resources. Breakaway either places a Blitzclique Continuous Trap from the Deck or bounces your Thunder monster to destroy a card. Blitzclique Alternator shrinks your opponent’s monsters by 300 per Thunder you control and swaps a Blitzclique card back into the Deck for a different Thunder monster.
Whisker Blitzclique is the payoff. On a turn your Blitzclique card destroyed something, it summons up to three Thunder monsters from your hand and can destroy that many cards. Once on the field it negates a monster effect by returning another Thunder monster to the hand.
The Fallen & The Virtuous sends Albion the Branded Dragon from the Extra Deck to destroy a face-up card, which also sets off the Blitzclique “another card destroyed” triggers. Albion then sets or adds a Branded Spell/Trap in the End Phase, and The Fallen & The Virtuous counts as Branded. Thunder Dragon Colossus can be summoned on any turn a Thunder monster’s effect was activated in the hand, which every Blitzclique reveal does. Super Starslayer TY-PHON - Sky Crisis is there to answer big boards.
Key cards
- Surge Blitzclique: the main starter. Destroys a monster and summons a Thunder, then searches more Blitzclique monsters.
- Hideout in the Sky, Coulomb: searches a monster each turn and hands the opponent a token to destroy.
- Whisker Blitzclique: mass summon and destruction, plus a monster negate.
- Crackle Blitzclique: interaction on the opponent’s turn that also extends.
- Blitzclique - Breakaway: places Alternator from the Deck or destroys a card, and comes back from the GY.
- Blitzclique Alternator: searches Thunder monsters and Spells, and weakens the opponent’s board.
- The Fallen & The Virtuous: extra destruction that feeds the Blitzclique triggers.
- Golden Cloud Beast - Malong: three copies in the Extra Deck. Adjusts its Level when summoned and bounces a card when sent to the GY.

It also took 2nd at the Caracas and Avrillé regionals. Before Beyond the Brave it made 14 regional top 8s. In the first weekend with the new set legal it made one more, from a small set of events.
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
- Most of the engine is live from the hand, so it can play through some disruption and still interact on the opponent’s turn with Crackle and Whisker.
- The Spells and the Field Spell return themselves from the GY whenever a Blitzclique effect destroys a card, so long games favor it.
- Every starter also removes a card, so going second is not a lost cause.
Weaknesses
- The hand effects all stop you from Special Summoning Effect Monsters except from the hand for the rest of the turn, which caps how much the Extra Deck can do.
- The search and recursion effects only work while the Blitzclique monsters are on the field and something gets destroyed. Removing the monster first, or stopping the first destruction, slows the whole turn down.
- Whisker needs a Blitzclique destruction earlier in the turn before it can come down.
What to watch
- Beyond the Brave added Blitzclique Overvolt, a Normal Spell that destroys a face-up card and returns to the hand when a Blitzclique effect destroys something. The Le Mans list predates it.
- YCS Houston (October 16-18) is the first big event with Beyond the Brave legal. Watch whether Blitzclique holds up against Elfnote with Ars Magna.
- Toon support arrives with Magnificent Maestros in mid-November and is expected to shake up the format.
